The big news for May is the movement of Uranus into Taurus on the 15th, a substantive shift in energy fields that will endure through 2025 (allowing for a brief segue back through late Aries from November – March 2019). Primarily this transit affects material security, and as discussed in greater depth in my essay in the 2018 Stargazer astrology guide, particularly references the transition to digital currency, which has already taken fundamental steps through the introduction of crypto assets such as Bitcoin, Etherium et. al. as well as the emergence of the sharing economy and other aspects of life and livelihood undergoing the technology revolution, particularly via Blockchain integration.
Mercury taps Uranus in the last degree of Aries on the 13th, just hours before moving into Taurus. An important realization or conversation occurs in the area of your chart containing 29’ Aries, and one likely long overdue, as the recent retrograde cycle of Mercury delayed this contact for the bulk of the last few months. A real breakthrough is possible now, as the final articulation of the objectives of Uranus in Aries (liberation and independence) occurs. From Taurus, both planets will seek to bring those objectives into material form to whatever extent plausible. It’s one thing to imagine something and a complete other to materialize it, as will become evident between now and November, when the retrograde of Uranus back into Aries offers one more opportunity back at the drawing board.
Just about the same time Uranus shifts into Taurus, Mars moves into Aquarius, and the two form a tense square aspect on the 16th, potentially revealing what the long term implications are regarding the significant trends emerging over the coming decade. Love it or hate it, life as it is currently known it is about to change in very fundamental ways. There is a real dynamic push at this time – look back to initiations that occurred in the end of February 2017, during the 22’ Aries conjunction, as there is a culmination at this point that references events and directives that occurred in that time frame. This is the “finishing touches” phase of the Mars – Uranus cycle, which is prolonged through next January… because:
By May 12th, Mars settles into the portion of the Zodiac it will occupy through early October. Transiting a measly 11’ Degrees (28’ Capricorn – 9’ Aquarius) during this period, there is an intensification of the area triggered within your chart, as well as a palpable, diminished shift in inertia over the next 5 months. Retrograde cycles always indicate having to reassess an area of life through the energetic filter of the planet involved, in this case Mars – ones’ will and the way in which you assert yourself in order to get what you desire. For first decan Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, this may be an especially vexing period, as Mars applies pressure on you throughout the duration of this transit. For the signs who least like change, it becomes inevitable at this point.
Mars interacts with the South Node on 3 separate occasions during the retrograde cycle, suggesting a double karmic whammy. Something unresolved requires reassessment and reorganization in order to be reconciled. These associations can link back to prior lives and represent karmic dues that need repayment. In some cases, it you who is due repayment, and something may turn up in your favor, a gift of some kind may emerge over the course of these transits that is quite beneficial, a turn of good fortune is payback for something that occurred in a prior incarnation. De ja vous experiences during these contacts will be strong, and should remind you that you are going in the right direction, even if that direction currently feels backwards.
Regardless of the specific outcome, an area requires fresh tactics in order to manifest. Figuring out what it is involves releasing the past – objectively and subjectively. Paying off some karmic debts (or receiving your due) in this period frees you to the future, so take care of any and all unfinished business. Also, expect a loss of momentum in the area ruled by Mars in your natal chart (i.e., I have Libra rising, Mars governs my 7th house….). CANCER June 21 – July 22
Mars begins to wind down in your area of partners (or so you think, you’ll be revisiting this topic again in a few months time) in order to get shared financials in frame from the 17th. This will likely prove a false start, as everything that is put into motion after the 12th will likely need to get reworked between now and October. (Thusly forewarned, and hopefully you read through this in advance, you may wish to schedule your bigger endeavors for the more favorable and dynamic period between January and April.) Especially after June 27th, energy levels will become sluggish, and while you can still accomplish things at a modest scale and pace, this is not the most fortuitous period to begin new projects or relationships. After a retiring phase Venus will enter your sign from the 20th stimulating highly pleasurable influences and helping you develop a love bond and enjoy a period of abundance in one form or another. The 26th signals it’s time to quit or commit. Check in with yourself and see where your heart lies at this crucial turning point.
LEO July 23 – August 22
The New Moon on the 15th signals a new professional chapter for you, as the efforts you put in during the prior cycle finally pay off. Events on the 1st and 19th can be disconcerting, you may ask if your heart is in it and consider how much of a personal sacrifice you are willing to make in order to succeed. Really enticing social opportunities are featured this month, and connecting with friends and allies, perhaps collaborating on a creative project, could be a fun expression of this energy. The Full Moon on the 29th is ideal for recreation and self expression. You make an exciting contribution to a group project. From the 16th – 17th, you start to get an inkling you aren’t in Kansas anymore. Monumental shifts effecting your partnerships and career are beginning to take hold, and these will be significant to the story lines not only for the rest of 2018, but for years to come.
VIRGO August 23 – September 22
If you have been toying with the idea of returning to college or going for an advanced degree, perhaps trying out a whole new field of study all together, this may be the month things begin to percolate for you. A New Moon on the 15th coupled with unexpected and revolutionary Uranus moving into the area of higher learning could stimulate you to take advantage of the numerous online and vocational programs available and explore your options and opportunities for a new professional course, perhaps involving innovation or technology. A supportive friend could have a kind word on the 19th that triggers you to download that course catalogue or fill out that application (and actually send it in!). You remain high profile this month. Bask in the appreciation of what you have accomplished.
LIBRA September 23 – October 23
A financial review continues to be in order, and there could be a surplus on the 8th or 11th that helps you through. A New Moon on the 15th can point to a commitment with a spouse or an institution that changes your status considerably. Hash out agreements on the 25th. A fun and social ambience continues to prevail, though by the end of the month you may start to feel a bit wary, perhaps someone is experiencing a change of heart. The 26th can be especially challenging, though the whole last week can provide intuitive glimpses into what lies in store. This one plays out through the end of September and there will definitely be some detours in the road upcoming. Venus in Cancer from the 20th shines favorably on you professionally. There is a bit more of a financial emphasis this month, and you may be merging assets in a relationship that is getting more serious or making important agreements with business partners. The 7th and 12th do not see matters working out to your best advantage and negotiations should be shelved until the 18th if possible. An exciting assignment at work on the 13th will keep you busy in the meanwhile. The 6th and 11th you feel a powerful connection to the one you love. The New Moon on the 15th could bring about an exciting development in a relationship, and Venus in Cancer from the 20th harmonizes beautifully with you. Travel could be on the agenda in the early part of the Summer. From the 17th begins a very long and potentially contentious transit (lasting through mid November,) regarding your home, property, family and your most personal life. Take notice of what’s occurring over the last few days of the month, as this is going to represent the key dynamic that requires resolution between now and the end of September.
SAGITTARIUS Nov 22 – Dec 21
Work – life balance is required of you this month as job opportunities compete with very exciting developments in your love life. Uranus moves into Taurus on the 16th, which has the long range effect of urging you to more independence and freedom in your work life. A theme of emancipation, perhaps working for yourself, rings crystal clear from mid month. Opportunities on the 11th, 18th and 25th will move you quickly towards your goals. Make time for relational matters, favored by Venus in your house of committed partnerships and later the Sun and Mercury. A trying moment on the 7th gives way to far better times ahead. Daily life and communication also pick up after the 17th, and you may be reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances over the Summer months. Easy does it on the 16th, as a disagreement or misunderstanding can rapidly spiral out of control. Take some “me” time during the Full Moon in your sign on the 29th, if you can. A celebration could also be in order, possibly a reunion of sorts.
CAPRICORN December 22 – January 19
Mars continues to energize and inspire you to take action. The 11th, 18th and 25th are advantageous for making deals and putting plans into action. The early part of the month sees you busy at work, and there could be a creative or collaborative project at your workplace. Things could get a bit murky on the 7th, and productivity could be slow at the moment. The Mars transit lasts through the 16th. An emphasis on the love life comes in mid month, Mercury transiting the area of True Romance couples with Venus in Cancer, your relationship house from the 20th. This offers the advantage of being able to genuinely share your passions with someone you admire, and cultivate your bond through shared experiences. A challenge could arise on the 26th that calls the future of this contact into question. It may also just be time to seal the deal. Uranus moves into Taurus mid month, occupying a part of the zodiac that makes a far less prickly angle for you. You’ve learned how to deal with challenges to your persona and self image, now you can successfully integrate this new freedom you have found and allow it to illuminate your creativity and even love relationships.
AQUARIUS January 20 – February 18
Venus offers a very pleasurable ambience, enhancing love connections and your creative or recreational activities. There are tricky vibrations in store on the 7th, and you really should steer clear of those who would take advantage of your better nature. A strong domestic influence is highlighted when Uranus moves into Taurus on the 15th. You sense changes are in store on the 1st and 19th, and a partnership could tie into the developments you experience at this time. Important decisions or conversations regarding your residence or close family members occur on the 18th + 25th. You can reach good agreements, sign a lease or sell a home. The New Moon on the 15th opens a door and represents a new chapter. Professionally you receive accolades that lead to a lucrative deal around the 25th. Mars begins its’ very long transit of your sign on the 16th. Knowing you have months you can use this to your advantage and take things slowly at first, exploring your options and desires.
PISCES February 19 – March 20
Your social schedule and day to day life continue to keep you in the hustle, though this is a great month to nestle in a bit and take some personal time or work on your living quarters. Be wary of testing influences regarding property and family members or flat mates on the 7th. A tricky ambience could muck up a situation and it’s better to not to come any important determinations during that time. Uranus and a New Moon mid month can get you going on an exciting new writing project. Something you collaborate with others on (a documentary? performance art show? a children’s book?) provides a lot of satisfaction while stimulates curiosity and intellectual growth. You’ll feel ready to charge ahead on the 16th. Could be foolhardy, but why not follow your inspiration just to see where it leads? From the 17th you enter a prolonged introspective phase. This will make you very sensitized, as your intuition will be elevated and your innate empathic qualities very strong in this phase. The dream world and your imagination will also hold significance. What is tricky about this one is you might just want to do your own thing for a while, and that is fine, but if you act surreptitiously and think you have a great poker face, people will see through any facade or smoke and mirrors you may try to apply to your maneuvers and you could face recrimination for deeds you thought were utterly private or personal. Basically, your ego drives and agenda is far more visible to others than you realize, and you may act out of highly subjective motivations unintentionally. Consider moves carefully.
