The ambience intensifies this week as Mars enters Capricorn and Sun moves into Aries (Happy Equinox!) Cardinal energy stirs up incentive and urges striking out towards new frontiers. These two very Yang energies confront one another at the end of the week, tapping into an already overly sensitized 2nd Quarter Moon in Cancer. The results of undertakings or initiatives put into motion late July of last year come into view. It might be time to modify the action plan if things aren’t going the way you would have sought for them to. (You have from now until the Sun – Mars opposition, which takes place in the middle of the Mars retrograde period this year on July 27th, to make modifications.)
Mercury also does it’s about face this week from 16’ Aries. Through April 15th there is a chance to step back, review and recalibrate perspective in what has been so far a very fast paced year. As mentioned in the monthly horoscopes, this particular retrograde has a heavy Saturn flavor to it, and much of what is getting worked out in this period is connected to confronting an obstacle or impediment which only through it’s resolution can progress be made. There can be frustrating moments of limitation attached to this process, but these are really meant to stimulate awareness of where and what needs working on. The end of April holds many opportunities in store if you can tackle the issues on hand.
The end of the week is pretty prickly as Venus squares Pluto, forcing a relationship (for the sake of love or money) to transform or else. (!!!) This can be a stormy influence to contend with and can bring up patterns of jealousy or possessiveness in a relationship that is triggering feelings of insecurity rather than love. It’s time to confront some inner demons and if you can maintain some objectivity, there is a potential for discovery, metamorphosis and healing to occur. This is also the appropriate time to evaluate progress in the objectives established during the first week of January, as these are reaching critical mass now.
The 2nd Quarter Moon that follows on Saturday is no peach either: from Cancer lady Luna opposes intense and obstinate forces via Mars + Saturn in Capricorn while squaring the Sun in Aries. This one looks really pivotal, though with Mercury out of sorts it’s not going to be easy to draw a conclusion about anything too critical. Sit with yourself and relinquish stagnant energies that have been repressed within. Any aggravation you might experience at this juncture is an indication that these urgently seek release.
Sun enters Aries on the 20th at 12:15p EST, signaling the beginning of the new astrological calendar and opening the energetic field to fresh influences and perspectives. For the next 10 days, the Sun transits the first Decan of Aries, stimulating a double Mars influence connected to the Tarot symbolism of 2 of Wands. Ziegler* offers the indication: “Pay attention to centering. If you’re in contact with your center, you are certain to master the situation. Trust your energy. Don’t go for any false compromises!… Now visualize the situation at hand. See yourself dealing with it while remaining centered.”

ARIES March 20 – April 19
You come back into your own this week as Sun joins up Mercury and Venus in your sign. Less easy to deal with is that willy-nilly Mercury retrograde rascal stirring up mischief in your sign. There may be more than one occasion this week you’ll likely want to tell people what is what and effectively put them in their place. Choose to split the difference instead. Though it’s not your style, it takes you further in the long run and with Mars starting a long transit of your arena of life direction, you need to be in this for the duration – pacing yourself is crucial for success.
TAURUS April 20 – May 20
You are likely preoccupied with very subjective matters and feeling some really intense peaks of intuition. Tuesday is likely one such moment for you, tapping you into the essence of your inner drives and desires. Friday would be a no-no for first dates or really meaningful exchanges. There is a lot of raw emotion out there you might prefer to steer clear of. Don’t avoid a conflict if it arises, just be aware that your faculties are compromised and trying to make a sensible case for your perspective is just not likely to come off as clearly as you might want.
GEMINI May 21 – June 20
While Mercury retrograde season is never easy on you Gem, this one does have the potential to bring back forgotten and long lost friends into your midst. Someone with too many strings attached shows their hand next Friday, and it could be take it or leave it. There is likely to be sexual and financial intensity arising over the coming weeks, so you might want to get your ducks in a row or have a back up plan ready, especially if you have outstanding debts or obligations of an intimate nature. Next weekend reveals what’s in store.
CANCER June 21 – July 22
Your star is rising, but you also seem to reconsidering the trajectory it’s traveling, and perhaps need to realign with some core values before you make a substantive move forward. A lot of pressure is coming in from your partnership sector and especially next weekend you are seeing how influential one or a few certain people have become and how that could be affecting your inner compass. While this partnership holds the potential to transform your life, you have to hold the reigns, if only periodically and steer your chariot.
LEO July 23 – August 22
Sun in Aries gives you all the mojo, though Mercury retrograde will have the effect of making you ask where and what you want to steer all that energy. Work matters remain a concern and will stand to modify your arrangements considerably over the coming weeks if not months. This is a good time to advance productivity, though you want to take a slow and steady effort if you are going to maximize your potential in the long run. Shifting dynamics at the end of the week reveal changes you seek to make.
VIRGO August 23 – September 22
With some of the more personal/relation dynamics being settled for you, Virgo begins a season of catharsis and renewal. Don’t get too bemused if things feel a bit sideways and your normally reserved self starts connecting with a more elemental – sensational – emotional aspects of your psyche. You may have not claimed your full value somewhere, or with someone, and this is a period of recalibrating your estimation of your self worth in order to establish the trust you need to proceed. Financial and intimate relationships factor.
LIBRA September 23 – October 23
The relational space just keeps heating up and matched Libras have a lot going for them these weeks ahead with positive vibes to connect and cultivate bonds with a significant someone who really seems to get you. Love juju gets a bit intense towards the end of the week, and especially in a new relationship, try to reserve judgement if someone doesn’t come through for you in precisely the way you would have expected. Insecurities can arise, likely connected to your childhood. The current influences enable you to observe these and extract them as required.
SCORPIO October 24 – November 21
It’s a rather gestational period for you Scorpio and while signals that you are in a period of transformation are abundant, you likely don’t realize the how or why of it all just yet. You may be reversing even recent decisions, especially where the establishment of daily routines haven’t really kicked in yet. Better choices can be made after you review how well aligned your goals are with what you are doing to make them real. Good intentions are well enough, but it’s time to address what you are doing on a habitual level and start to engage more productive strategies.
SAGITTARIUS Nov 22 – Dec 21
Mars leaves your sign this weekend, moving into Capricorn where you will ground and attempt to materialize your recently determined upon inspirations. Sun in Aries adds to the momentum building in the area of your chart linked to pleasure and creativity, although Mercury retrograde could cause a bit of a short circuit over the coming weeks while you figure out how to get it all to come together. Inspiration could peak on Tuesday. Financial matters that require fortitude to get through will be revealed at the end of the week into Saturday.
CAPRICORN December 22 – January 19
With Mars in your sign from Saturday you are super activated to get going on the big goals you set for yourself earlier this year. Simultaneously there is a rooting in influence, and while your foundations might seem shaky at best (courtesy of Mercury retrograde) you are coming to terms with what you desire in your ideal living arrangements and considering if those at close distance are serving those needs or providing a distraction. A trigger point next Friday sends signals as to where there is significant room for improvement.
AQUARIUS January 20 – February 18
Daily life is set to become even more exciting this week, though you might be taking a walk down memory lane and reconnecting with familiar but forgotten friends as the Mercury retrograde cycle unspools over the coming weeks. Mars in Capricorn lends some agitation to your inner space, suggesting it’s time for a mental/spiritual health check in. Expect intuition to be on high, though you won’t know where or precisely how these perceptions are reaching you (dreams, de ja vous and ESP experiences are part and parcel). These signal you to accept and release the past.
PISCES February 19 – March 20
Energy continues to percolate in your arena of self worth and values, making this a fortuitous time to appraise your personal assets both substantive and intangible. The upcoming Mercury retrograde phase triggers some reassessment of these matters and contributes to a perceptible delay in gratification. Defining your goals and the networks in which you participate and how well these augment your true aspirations seems to be a critical part of this process. Socially this is a vibrant period, with some rather intense people entering your orbit. At least one or two of these people can show you the way through an otherwise tricky obstacle course regarding personal finance and how to make and keep your money.
